Mindshift is a family of songs that express a shift in my perspective of the world, mostly written while I was living in Scotland in 2007. After Falling (2006), I felt that I'd written my share of love songs, and did some soul searching and traveling to uncover another source of inspiration. During this time I mostly lived in my notebook, letting thoughts pour in and out of me. Days spent in Glasgow's beautiful parks inspired songs about the law of attraction, connecting with the Earth, the destructive ways this human culture operates, wolf wisdom, and the power of presence. Basically this album documents my experience of personal evolution, a mindshift to a more conscious perspective. I've decided to share this music using the internet, because it's an interesting method and CDs aren't biodegradable. As well I like the idea of paying what you feel. If you enjoy this music and would like to send some good karma back, you can pay what you feel using the link below the music player. As well please say hello and let me know what you feel or think. :) |

I heard the story that this world is at an end, and I thought you said you wouldn’t dance, but you stomp your feet and you clap your hands to the song of world destruction, to the song of disconnection. This way of life, this way of man is sinking in its own quicksand, we’ve got to stop, we've got to stop, we've got to stop, and think. I want to connect to the problems I told you that I wouldn’t dance, and I’m doing everything I can to stop mindless destruction, to sing for reconnection. I realize now, open-eyed now, I see my compromises. No longer will I sacrifice the power of my life. I want to connect to the problems |

We know so many languages But it’s an incomplete harmony; we’re not listening to what we sing. We write a symphony with every day that passes It’s an incomplete harmony, we’re not listening to what we sing |

Tsunami, a tsnuami, a tsunami, tsunami A human life is so short; it rolls and crashes like a wave on the shore. If we are like waves across the ocean The force of human nature is taking over…
We’re rolling over, crashing all that we can see The force of human nature is taking over…
When will we stop and think? When will we start to feel? |

From a factory farm to a slaughter house What the fuck are they feeding us? From a third world country to a grocery shelf Take all of your problems and all of your pain If we are what we eat, and we eat what we kill |

I want to plant a seed and watch it grow I want to find a place to call my home Would you like to walk along Let’s follow our dreams down a country road |

I’m laying on the couch, staring at the screen I’m standing on the grass, looking at the sky The lake, the sky, the birds, the trees, the wealth of possibilities! I forgot there is sun outside |

She is alive, but she doesn’t know why She has the recipe to turn her dreams into reality Her dreams shine, like treasure across the desert She has the recipe to turn her dreams into reality |

Your memory is part of me, like Time passes in days, months, years Now leaves grow out of me Your memory is part of me, like |

The full moon, it fills the night This foreign land has shown me my own bones Can you hear the song from my soul This world is ours, this world is us |

A waterfall of music pushes us to dance together Be my lover You are a sweet fruit fallen from a tree I’ve never been to Be my lover Be my je ne sais quoi, je ne sais quoi, je ne sais quoi, je ne sais quoi… A waterfall of music pushes us to dance together, and in this rainbow darkness we are birds of the same feather |

Derrick Jensen, Ani DiFranco, David Suzuki, and Karine Polwart for positively influencing me with their words and creations around the time I wrote the songs. Adam Miner for doing such a wonderful job of producing & engineering & mixing & mastering this album, bringing the songs to life. This wouldn't be the same without your passion, vision, and encouragement. All the musicians who played on the album: Tim Tanner with his amazing drumming, Dave Scarlette on upright bass, Adam Miner with additional bass & electric guitar, Matt Giresi who added creative percussion elements, and Mark Potvin for the beautiful Weisenborg guitar part on the song "Country Road". Love and appreciation for all the wonderful friends I've had the joy to share life with, and everyone who's been so encouraging along this musical path. Finally to Dad, Mom, and Natalie and the rest of the family for being so supportive. I'm so grateful to be able to share life with you and love you very much. |
